Printer-friendly versionWhat is the OSDPL?
The Open Source Design Pattern Library is a place where individuals and organizations can share, collaborate, and discuss design patterns. The OSDPL aims to become a community where designers, developers, and other people interested in patterns can come to reference material, collaborate on patterns and designs, and share their knowledge with everyone.
Who runs the OSDPL?
The OSDPL is an initiative of the
Fluid Project - a worldwide collaborative project to help improve the usability and accessibility of community open source projects with a focus on academic software for universities. The Fluid Project is funded by the
Andrew Mellon Foundation.
Can I re-use and copy content from the OSDPL?
Yes! Content submitted to the OSDPL is licensed under
Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 Canada. This license allows anyone to remix, re-use, and share content from this site as long as the rights holders are properly attributed.
What kind of content can I submit to the OSDPL?
Currently the OSDPL accepts user interface design patterns as content which can be applicable to websites, web applications, and stand-alone applications. At this time, we are focused on user interfaces, but we are open to expanding to other pattern categories (like social patterns) if the community finds it valuable.
Why Register?
By registering on the OSDPL you gain two notable features:
- The ability to create your own design patterns.
- Participate in discussions on Draft design patterns, that are otherwise hidden from unregistered users. These patterns will appear in the list when you Join a Discussion.
- Rank published patterns.
Should I be concerned about privacy?
The OSDPL keeps all private and identifiable information confidential, and will never distribute this information to any other parties. User profiles intentionally contain limited information and email addresses are kept secure.
In the future, it is conceivable that email addresses be used to send notifications, news items, and other OSDPL related content, and any such changes will be properly communicated to all users.
How do I go about getting patterns published on the OSDPL?
To be written.
